His work, fusing artistic and technological experiment, takes many forms: aeroplanes, flying carpets, cars, flying saucers, submarines and birds. Panamarenko has spent the greater part of his life in Antwerp, where he is considered a living legend. Although he has always refused to exchange his seaport town with some foreign metropolis, he has practically conquered the whole world with his impressive and highly inspiring sculptures. Panamarenko neither paints nor sculpts, at least not in the usual sense of those terms. He dreams the way a little boy dreams, enjoying a spiritual freedom which allows him to create his very own universe.
